For some reason I didn't rate this or comment when I listened to it.
Anyway, free Palestine.
Always an artist that I enjoy having in my music library because other music fans enjoy having them in my music library. For once I listed to a Godspeed album through and through with intent. Lovely noise, but not necessarily sounds I personally crave. I can see why people love their sound though.
Intense, cinematic, vital… another epic offering from the Canadian band and one that will reward multiple listens I expect.

The untitled "Side D" that you can only find on the vinyl edition of this album was only brought to my attention via this page. I'll say now: it's absolutely essential. An ambient reprise of the outro to "Green Shoots" that wouldn't feel out of place on Ravedeath-era Tim Hecker, it fills me with the same kind of bittersweet longing as the final two minutes of "Antennas to Heaven". Seek it out if you can.
Another masterclass in mood, tension, orchestration and drama from the great Canadian band - and a fantastic title for the victims of genocide in Gaza. Free Palestine.
