Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.9/100, a mean average of 70.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 10.7.

Album of the year at the 1994 Mercury Prize (Edited)
Some snubbed this group and their music when this was released. The nineties was already so full of dance-floor tracks that failed to hold their own alongside the time's Britpop and Indie "materpieces". Re-listening to it now, I can only hold my breath, and respect its qualities, not to mention Heather Small´s vocal abilities. The album contains seven or eight dance classics, and what is left is not album fodder either.
If you want to stray from your early 1990s musical mansions for a welcome breather, then this release may be just what you are looking for. (Edited)
Controversial winner of the 1994 Mercury Music Prize beating out such luminaries as Paul Weller, Blur , Pulp, and The Prodigy in the process
Heather Small is clearly the star of the show here on an album that produced 4 mega smash hits in "One Night in Heaven" (June 1993) , "Moving on Up" (September 1993) , "Don't Look Any Further" (November 1993) and "Renaissance" (February 1994) and spent 87 weeks on the charts
