Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 78.3/100, a mean average of 77.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.7.

Take glam rock and add muscular guitars, and britpop is born. Opener "So Young" even sounds like a Bowie tribute at first. Though their sound is a bit keyboard heavy at times, I still like the album a lot. Nice guitar work and a great set of songs. "Moving" sounds like The Smiths, but that's no bad thing.

This is the only album that trying to tell you how you feel about telling that almighty what you've missed for so long as a matter of not seeing each other since you were born.

Quite good and enjoyable album, sounds like fusion of early 90s alt rock and 70s glam rock and has some creative lyrics.

I like the movement that follows this a whole lot more than this album, but there's still a very good record here.

Decent, but not as spectacular as I expected it to be. Animal Nitrate is absolutely phenomenal, I also liked She's Not Dead, Drowners and Pantomime Horse. A few too many weak tracks for this to be a top-tier album though for me. Some of the guitar riffs are stunning.

In 93 it sounded like something from another planet. I think it still does. The atmosphere and effects of the whole thing are just beautifully infectious. Often it's the slower moments that stick out for me, like 'Pantomime Horse' and 'The Next Life', but the combination of Butler and Anderson is irresistible here.
