Whereas the first White Rose Transmission album sounded like the work of a post-punk-influenced Dutch prog band who had The Sound's Adrian Borland as a member, this, the second one, is more of a prog-influenced post-punk album by a band mostly led by Borland as the primary songwriter and occasional lead vocalist, with all lyrics sung in English. It retains much of the understated, almost chamber-pop sensibility of the first LP, but with more focus on the guitars, better vocals, and a more consistent beat-driven sound throughout. (The Chameleons' Mark Burgess also makes an appearance on track 9, "Digging for Water.") The album has since been overshadowed by the fact that Borland tragically took his own life only a few weeks before the release date, and for several years it was hard to find outside of Germany and the Netherlands, but thankfully that problem has since been alleviated somewhat.
