Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 80.8/100, a mean average of 79.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 81.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.6.

of the 1300+ cd's i own, this is in my top 5, easy. to paraphrase another review I read elsewhere, it's one of those gems that you want to share with everyone, but it's so great that you want to keep it to yourself. the first half is awesome and then it unfurls into brilliance.

I don't want to say it's "Modest Mouse meets Trout Mask Replica", but that's kind of what I'm thinking at this point.
a very weird album that gives of a hint of partial insanity. So much fun to listen to and unlike most things that I have ever heard. quickly becoming a personal favourite (Edited)
Possibly my favorite album of all time. What more can I say?

Weird as fuck album. It sounds like if Ben Folds took a bunch of drugs. Even though I like it a lot, it doesn't feel the same as other albums I like. I don't know how to explain it. It's like all the other albums I like are all one category and this one is a completely different category. Like I wanna say I get it but I might not. There might be one day that I listen to this and it finally lands in the same category as the rest of the stuff I listen to, but just a lot better. One thing's for sure I will definitely be coming back to this album a lot over the next couple months.
