Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

My final first-impression review of 2023 goes to Camel's Breathless. This is definitely not classic Camel, as it leans much more into a pop-prog sound than previous offerings, and has more of an overall "laid-back" feel to the music. As such, it's not super popular with prog diehards, but it's a good enough album anyway, especially if you're looking for something a little more gentle from this band. And though I the record is a bit inconsistent on quality, there are some really strong tracks here that all do something fairly new—Echoes meshes new and old, The Sleeper goes for a more jazzy approach, and Summer Lightning even pulls off disco-prog pretty well. A mixed bag, and definitely not the starting place if you want to get into Camel (go back to Mirage or Moonmadness for that), but an enjoyable enough album to "mix it up," if you're in the mood.
The title track is heavenly, hints of disco on songs like Summer Lightning and You Make Me Smile, overall a pretty good Camel release.
Mirage is one of my favorite albums. This one has a couple glimmers of that brilliance on tracks like Summer Lightning and The Sleeper, but the rest of it just didn't do it for me.
