Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.7/100, a mean average of 76.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.6.

This album is a blast from start to finish. It has the classic punk sound which is a combination of frantic drumming, screeching guitars and shredding vocals. This is best shown on the songs Suspect Device, State Of Emergency and Alternative Ulster. Despite this, my favourite song is probably Johnny Was which is a lot slower and is allowed to breathe more. This shows just how diverse the group are and they have quality no matter what style they play in. However, there are a few tracks that are a little weaker that do feel like filler cuts. There aren't many of these but there are no real reason for about 4 or 5 of the songs and you don't really need to hear them. Overall, a fun experience with some fantastic punk moments and it is definitely worth looking into.

I know punk is supposed to be in your face, but this feels overly brash.

One of the most visceral records ever produced. The backdrop of the Irish troubles and Jake Burns' throat shredding vocals combine to produce a late punk classic. Tracks like 'Barbed Wire Love' show that they also had a sense of humour.
