Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 67.8/100, a mean average of 66.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 67.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.9.

There are some standout tracks here (Kettling, V.A.L.I.S., Truth, Day Four) but this generally isn't their best showing.
One of the most underrated albums

At the first listen, I was very disappointed about this album. 3 years and a few more listens later, I really appreciate this album as it have some similarities with Silent Alarm (2005) and A weekend in the city (2007).
Favorite tracks: Real Talk, Kettling, Truth
Les favorite tracks: 3x3, Octopus, The Healing
An heavier album that shows a different side of what Bloc Party can deliver as a group... and still offers slower stuff that match the earlier productions. Really enjoyed it!
After the drum loops and dance beats of Intimacy, Four gets back to basics, and the sounds of voices in the studio interspersed with the tracks give this album the feel of four guys re-energised with the enjoyment of making music. There's no grand plan here, but a diverse collection of sounds from howling rock riffing (Kettling) to fragile whispered beauty (Day Four) and everything else in between. A great way to return.
Surprising in a good way. You may expect a calm album considering the sober jacket or the albums they did before, but it is definitely not. In this album, Bloc Party even use heavy sounds remebering Living Colour or Queens of the Stone Age. Their best album since Silent Alarm.
All over the place, going from heavy rock to alt rock. Real Talk and Truth are my favourite songs on the album.

Don't think they'll ever be able to match the brilliance of 'Silent Alarm' but this is a pretty solid album.
