El primer álbum de Caifanes se siente tan fresco en tantos sentidos. Viendo influencias claras de bandas como The Cure tanto en el sonido de algunas canciones como Mátenme Porque Me Muero o en la misma portada, pero al mismo tiempo incorporando elementos mexicanos como en La Negra Tomasa, que logra juntar un sonido tradicional de cumbia con rock resultando en una canción bastante interesante de escuchar. A mí me parece increíble este debut.

El álbum debut de Caifanes resulta una bocanada de aire fresco para la escena nacional, es rock aparentemente gótico mezclado con el folclore mexicano, bellas letras metafóricas que profundizan en simbolismos adornadas por sublimes atmósferas. "La Negra Tomasa" resulta ser un híbrido entre la cumbia y el rock psicodélico; "Nada" nos habla de lo efímero; "Viento" se convierte en una bella canción de amor eterno. "Mátenme Porque Me Muero" rinde homenaje a Tin Tan desde su titulo con memorables sintetizadores; "Cuéntame Tu Vida" bien podría pasar por una canción de The Cure en español; "Perdí Mi Ojo De Venado" es una alegoría al esoterismo y la superstición; "Será Por Eso" nos hace divagar por los intrincados laberintos mentales de la locura; "La Bestia Humana" incluso cuenta con la colaboración otra leyenda del rock latinoamericano de alta envergadura: Gustavo Cerati, quien toca la guitarra con la banda en dicho corte. Un disco sublime, enigmático y mágico, rebosante de canciones clásicas y trascendentes.
