There’s a pretty interesting back story to this album that you can find on the record’s Wikipedia page. I tend to find that a little more interesting than the album itself.
This is mostly the Giant Steps album done by Archie Shepp’s group. It’s good, but lacking compared to Coltrane’s original recordings. Shepp’s original at the end of the album is very good however.
