Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 5% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.3/100, a mean average of 75.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.3.

A classic, among the peak of British music of the 80s. a tremendous debut that hasn't lost steam in over 30 years. The songs are all great filled with political jabs and humor. A deft amalgamation of tone and style. Simply a must-have for any serious music collector. Here's the irony - their next album turned out to be even better.
I have a hard time believing that anyone who has listened to this album finds it anything but brilliant. There's no accounting for taste. This is a band that should have changed the world but didn't.
It's alright. Happy hour, is fantastic, easily the Housemartin's best song, but the rest is a bit dull and ordinary. They just don't have that raw edge that contemporaries like The Smiths and The Cure had. Still, it's not bad.
Nice bit of 80's pop that's still enjoyable now. Quite often pick it up and give it a listen.
Starts pretty well
An album that is guaranteed to make you want to put turn ups on your trousers, don a shaggy cardigan and wave your arms around a lot. Politically charged fun... :-)
