Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.4/100, a mean average of 71.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.6.

Disco de debut de Poco, que los convierte en pioneros del country-rock.
Out of the ashes of the short-lived Buffalo Springfield came many phoenixes. Among the solo careers of Neil Young, Stephen Stills also came Jim Messina of Loggins and Messina and the seminal country-rock band Poco.
Poco were literally "pickin' up the pieces" of the remains of Buffalo Springfield, the former members Richie Furay, Jim Messina, Rusty Young collaborated with George Grantham and Randy Meisner (who quickly left to join The Eagles).
Poco still remains active in the 21st century, thanks to Rusty Young's long-time presence. Although listeners may enjoy the gentle LA rock of the 70s, particular the excellent "Crazy Eyes" album, listeners may find themselves uninterested by this debut.
Pickin' up the Pieces is essential in the country-rock genre, along with "Sweetheart of the Rodeo" by the Byrds, "Guilded Palace of Sin" by Gram Parsons/Flying Burrito Brothers, &___ Gene Clark and "Uncle Charlie" by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
The singing is charming, the lyrics are saccharine, and the performance is surprisingly dynamic. Richie Furay's singing is pleasant and his lyrics don't have too much depth to offer, except maybe on "First Love." A fun romp, but that's all.
