Samey. Couldn't stand the production either.
There's talent here, but not enough to engage me with this music.
Again, if we get more progressive albums like this in 2014, it'll be a great year. Another album that showcases how clean production has become in this decade and how it can continue to become. Not to lessen this by comparison, but if I had to compare, this album reminds me of what I kinda hoped Lana Del Rey's debut sounded like: a strong voice backed by clean production. Also, maybe this is what No Doubt would have sounded like if they started in this decade of heavily computerized electronic production. Anyway, definitely a candidate for Best New Artist of 2014, with a lot of potential, can only hope to see more refreshing releases this year.
