A French musician of Algerian heritage, Taha perfectly balances traditional and modern North African/Arabic music with just the right amount of Euro-production so it feels solid without the "pop" (read: too much synthesizer)found in much Rai music. The use of rhythm and instrumentation augments the lyrics, which are mostly in Arabic, a little in French. There is an underlying theme of life in exile, the way that many North Africans feel in France, even after several generations. This is an excellent gateway to Arab music.
