Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 68.0/100, a mean average of 65.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 67.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 19.0.

Some killer songs like “Shakedown Street” and “Fire on the Mountain”, but as the last reviewer noted, this studio album is so damn polished that it loses the cool jammy feel of the Dead. The live versions of these songs are much better, so skip this and check out some 1978 era live Dead.

Very good but not great album. Over produced by Little Feet frontman Lowell George, gives it to slick of a sound to polished a feel for the Grateful Dead. It contains some excellent songs that would thrive in the live setting. including Fire On The Mountain, Shakedown Street and I Need A Miracle. This album has been called disco dead by some. i think its more a funk feel but i know thats splitting hairs.
