2021-02-06 I enjoyed this at least as much as the more mature and far more renowned Car Wheels on a Gravel Road. 70/100

It's amusing that after years of labels turning her down because her music trascended the genres of rock, pop, country and blues, it took the confidence of the European label Rough Trade to finally get this record off the ground.
This self-titled album is her major breakthrough record. Even when Williams's singing style is too rough and rigid, the songs stand really strong on their own. This is a top notch Americana release and probably her most accessible album for new listeners.
