This album had sounds which made my dog uncomfortable. So I guess Mica Levi created an incredibly effective soundtrack for the film, but not a very pleasant album to listen to outside of the film.
Ah, my favourite film score. Mica Levi has created a hypnotic, otherworldly score that not only enhances Jonathan Glazer's masterwork but forms the backbone of it. Masterfully sets various moods (depending on the point in the film) and ratchets up the suspense with the use of screechy yet sensual snake-like strings.
Strange and sublime. Mica Levi's brilliant output remarkably accompanies Jonathan Glazer's work to the point where the film would lose a hell of a lot of power without the score. This particular piece of art is the best soundtrack I've ever heard to the best film I've ever seen; it perfectly captures the headspace of the alien experiencing our world.
Even when you listen to the album by itself, the strings still manage to deeply unsettle, shock and (in the case of "Death") break your heart. This is a masterpiece of the highest order made by someone who, unbelievably, created her first film score.
