Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 12% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.7/100, a mean average of 75.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 10.5.

This is Post Rock with an electronic edge. They use short and snappy percussion unlike a lot of traditional post rock. The standout “Retreat, Retreat” does sound a tad like Explosions In The Sky with its triumphant instrumentation. But, it goes the opposite way a few tracks later with “I Swallowed Hard, Like I Understood” where a sense of eeriness and jeopardy can be felt through the darker instrumentation. This is truly a unique album. It pulls from so many areas of rock and music in general. Pianos, glitchy synths and grungy guitars are all used to build upon the post rock foundation that they lay down throughout. Overall, it’s an extremely intriguing and enjoyable listen

You could argue they compromise some of their ideas to make it more accessible than it's supposed to be, but it's a very interesting and enjoyable album nonetheless, mainly due to the noisy/electronic aspects and the alternation of heavy and ambient moments.

Incredible early album from 65dos reminding us post-rock doesn't have to fit within constraints. Mixing in math rock and noise, every song has very appealing moments and I still find myself head-bobbing along thru almost the whole thing. A must-listen for those who enjoy instrumental music

Favorite tracks: I Swallowed Hard Like I Understood, Another Code Against the Gone, Retreat! Retreat!, Default This

Samey, monotonous, but nevertheless a decent album. Just very, very repetitive, and that's not usually a good sign for an instrumental album.
