Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 15% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.4/100, a mean average of 74.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.6.

Aisha is outstanding and possibly the best song of 1999, a couple of other tracks are decent but there's a couple of duds as well
Favorite Songs:Broken Little Sister
It's a decent album but its sound is very dated.
Also the focus is on layering ordinary instrumentation, neglecting the quality of what is being played. Musicianship's lacking.
This record is dark, pretty strong and really quite underrated. "Aisha", for example, is a psychedelic epic and one of the very best tracks of the 90s. The rest of the record also has that scuzzy, trippy vibe veering from noise pop to trip hop. It may sound like little more than a sum of its influences, but what great influences they are.
There were moments I thought I might like this more than I expected, but those were overpowered by the moments that I couldn't wait for a song to end.
Oddly enough I've been listening to this album in 2017 and it's good . Very trippie but in a good way . The extended issue just released on Spotify clocks in at > 2 hours is not recommended, but the 9 track " standard " release is . Go on give it a listen , definitely recommended
