Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 16% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.0/100, a mean average of 72.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.0.

The standout classic album by Sananda Maitreya in his former shape and with his former name.

It does not sound as good now as it did when first released.

The quality of the singles (T2, T5 & T9) stand out from the othet tracks. T9 was the masterpiece and swansong(? )of a potentially great Contemporay R&B artist who fizzled out long before his time (A3), at least in a commercial sense.
It is good but too patchy to be called great.

Amidst all that late eighties nonsense this was a great album that had many bangers which still can be heard in classic rock radios. His voice is also very original and soulful for that matter. I like the overall quality of this work.

I still have the original tape which I bought a few months before seeing this guy live. Although it was one of the most disappointing live performances I have ever seen, I still thoroughly enjoy this album and haven recently bought on vinyl, I am now listening to it more than I ever did.

Great debut album which made TTD a star but this was to be the peak of his commercial success. Fav tracks are Wishing Well, Sign My Name & Who’s Loving You.

Should've been the start to a stellar career. The songwriting is brilliant, the music outstanding and TTD has one of those otherworldly voices. "Rain" is the only so-so track on here. Instead, he let his ego get the better of him and he never really never did anything after this one. Still, if one is going to be a one hit wonder, this is the way to do it.

Never did anything after this but that's ok. This cd is pure excellence and brilliance.
