This album used to be my favorite from Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. Nowadays I think it has a lot of really good songs, but everything could have been better. The best example is While The Song Remains The Same. The lyrics are beautiful — but why this melody, when the acoustic version on YouTube is a thousand times better and brings out the lyrics so much more?
Separated from his childish brother, and the boyish attitude of Oasis, Noel is able to make the finest record of his career.
Album of the year for me, a big Noel fan of his music a great song writer best track 'Lock all the doors' and 'Riverman'

Wow. I never would have thought by the way latter-day Oasis flagged or by the first Noel Gallagher album that this album would be the greatest Oasis-related album since "What's the Story?". Noel proves himself a great songwriter penning really great, hooky (alt?)rock songs reminiscent of his Oasis days. Sorry I slept on this in 2015...
I was surprised by how amazing this album is. Noel still has a god gift that's for shizzle.
I've never been that big a fan of Oasis, but man this is good stuff. While some tracks are hit or miss, the ones that hit (Riverman, The Right Stuff) are excellent.
Has a more chilled atmosphere compared to the first album, maybe not quite as good, but still very good indeed in it's own way

A pleasant surprise, much more consistent album than the first outing. While it's obviously not in the level of Oasis' masterpieces, it's clear Noel hasn't lost his talent and it's not making albums just to "cash in"
Riverman has to be Noel's best song in a long time.
