Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.6/100, a mean average of 70.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.5.

Not as consistent or deep as Spiderland but a great start! Carol is an absolute bop. Darlene has some nice minimalistic lyrics that we see later in Spiderland.

Tweez is like if a talented band knew how to play, but didn't have any focus on what to do. I think it's fair to say that 'Spiderland' is a ginormous step up from this, being very eerie, creepy, and very well paced. This album does have a sound, but nothing feels fleshed out, or even long enough to feel more cohesive. The whole thing is only around 28 minuets, and albums can be short, but I don't think it justifies being short.

I think that 'Tweez' is an interesting start for Slint. It's still well produced, and the instrumentation is interesting at points, but the songs by themselves, and the album as a whole, don't feel like it has any weight, whereas 'Spiderland' was so moody and eerie, it had everything it needed for what it was going for. It's a honestly a shame Slint didn't continue after 'Spiderland', other than a short EP with one cut song and a re-recorded version of 'Rhoda".

Not as good as Spiderland, but not bad at all. 7/10.

Metal goes jazz. The production's amazing. I think Albini "recorded" this. Regardless, it swings.

This album proves that sometimes discord can bring harmony. Beautiful!
