Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.8/100, a mean average of 72.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.5.

This sounds like an album that they were contracted to make to support the song 'Tush'. A stop gap album for the era & phase they were in at the time. Hence the fist side live, second side average studio tracks except for the excellent last two. It's alright but nothing spectacular. Prefer most other albums from this age of the Top.

Rather uneven album. Much prefer the studio to the live side. Starts to pick up from blue Jean blues onwards. Mexican blackbird is great as is tush. Has its moments but there are much better ZZ top albums to explore before this one

The half studio/half live format here makes this album feel hastily thrown together and lacking in cohesion.

The live songs aren't great. The last two songs on the album are the best.

Not bad, not great. Tush is good, Heard it on the X ain't bad, and my favorite, Balinese, is very good. The rest I can take or leave.
