there are 1/2 dozen songs I like from BTO so I decided to give the album a spin on Spotify figuring maybe I am missing something. As an example, I really dislike country music but Shania Twain's Come On Over is one of my all time favorite albums. So it is possible to dislike a genre in its entirety but come across a gem

This statement begs the question, why purchase or even listen to the album? Your rating certainly does not qualify as being objective.
Outside of Four Wheel Drive this album really grates on me.. in a bad way. I am not a fan of blues rock to say the least
