Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 12% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.5/100, a mean average of 71.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 20.5.

Not an album that I own but just played this through Spotify. I'm not a Nugent fan at all but Stranglehold has some awesome guitar playing so listened for that. The rest of the album is OK. Agree; "Strangehold" is amazing! It’s a killer track no doubt. Outstanding. I don’t think that the rest of…

This is a really excellent album from the very accomplished American metal shredder. Back in its heyday it was classed as metal, in this day and age probably hard rock. I thought Cat Scratch fever was the best album until I picked up a mint vinyl copy of this in a local second hand joint a few hours ago. (Edited)

Though the album has some misses on it the great songs are so great this has to be rated pretty high. "Just What The Doctor Ordered" and "Snakeskin Cowboys" are irresitable classics...and they are not even the ones that got the airplay. A great career restart for Ted...He would go on a great roll throughout the rest of the seventies after this. (Edited)

Given some love to the motor city madman. Stranglehold is an absolute classic when it comes to 1970s hard rock

Snakeskin Cowboys is the best song among many good ones. It does weaken with the last two songs, however. Still a classic from the '70s.
