Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 21% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.7/100, a mean average of 72.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.1.

I don’t necessarily go for covers with artists on them but this one is the epitome of cool. The weirdest thing that I’ve just noticed. On the copy of the album that I have Rickie is facing right, on this photo she’s facing left. Can anyone explain when and why this was done? Woo hoo!

Great debut album with that flare of jazz. Chuck E.'s in Love nominated the song of the year. My favorite song is Coolsville which is where I hear that jazz influence. This is a good listen. (Edited)

A totally underrated album. Rickie Lee Jones' debut record is a wonderfully inventive and original LP. There are wonderful songs here in, easy money, last chance Texaco, and, Coolsville. Hints of her then boyfriend Tom Waits here, especially lyrically, and mutual friend Chuck E Weiss is celebrated in, Chuck E's in love, which was a massive hit in the states. Rickie Lee Jones is vastly underrated, if you don't know this album, check it out.

I love this album one of the best debut albums of all time. Apart from Chuck E's In Love the album is full of great observations of love & life including Young Blood, Last Chance Texaco, Danny's All Star Joint and Company. Her voice has a jazzy rock appeal, She reminds me of Tom Waits, emotional yet sometimes funny. This is still one of my favourite albums of all time it has never aged.
