While there are hints at classic Tortoise here (e.g. the first two tracks and Gesceap) the overall result is more disappointing than I'd hoped. I have no problem with vocals on a Tortoise album, however, the results are mixed - 'Rock On' sounds OK on its own but it spoils the flow of the album, and 'Yonder Blue' is lovely but creates a high that the following tracks pale in comparison to. It's great to have them back, but a shame they could not make something more coherent.
