Lincolnville, the one and only album released by Portland, Maine, three-piece outfit Car, is a little known gem from the fringes of the shoegaze movement. Although the production on this album blunts Colin Decker's vocals to the point of near-incoherence, the songs have a clear rock resonance that owes as much to Neil Young as to Slowdive. My favorite track here is "Junebug," a guitar-squall ode to Maine childhood summers spent catching insects in mason jars.
