Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 83.1/100, a mean average of 82.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 83.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.5.

This band and this album are not first listen lovable, but when it hits you, it hits you veeeeeeeeeery hard
One of the most interesting, beautiful, and scariest albums of all time.
Gigantic sound, gigantic album
-Red Velvet Corridor
-I Was A Prisoner In Your Skull
-The Beautiful Days
-All Lined Up
-The Final Sacrifice
Interesting music I like to hear this. Some songs are not so good but other songs are immense good. Very good I mark this as favorable. Very recommended to listen.
This was powerful. It felt like all the music I have ever listened to had been in preparation for this arresting sonic experience, and I can’t wait to truly get to know this record, a feeling that doesn’t happen often when you’re always trying to listen to new stuff. A true contemporary epic!
Even though this may not stand up to wonderful trio of albums Swans crafted in the 2010's, it still is a polarizing and infinitely interesting piece of work that never loses its luster, instead it evolves with each listen.
The first half is perfect and the second half is almost perfect. When climate change hits, I'm blasting this album.
Not so much an album as a catalogue of all Swans' previous experimentation distilled into the series tracks which act as scenes of an invisible film. The cues range from blurry, lo-fi vignettes to raging wall-of-sound chaos in a chronology which simultaneously makes no sense yet completely works. At times nail-bitingly gripping and at others hauntingly serene.
Fully appreciating any Swans release is no easy task and is more like a life style choice , and this ones a big-un even by Swans standards clocking in at close to nearly 2.5 hours and 26 tracks
What you get here is the trade-mark Swans sounds interspersed with many interesting sound bites some of which are from secret FBI audio bugs , with a couple of live tracks thrown for good measure. For mine Jarboe in her Swans swansong is the star of the show here especially the stunning track "Volcano"
Personally I prefer the intensity of 'The Seer' but this album sits closely behind as my 2nd favourite Swans experience
