Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 4% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.7/100, a mean average of 75.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.0.

BST is a mixed bag, I really do not like their music as a whole. It has no cohesion or direction. Some good songs are on this album like: I love you more than i know, I cant quit her

Very beautiful album. The way they introduce the musical themes in the beginning and later repeat them in the end foreshadows albums like The Who's Tommy and Pink Floyd's The Wall. It has its good and bad moments but overall a good album.

Their best album without a doubt. Strongest effort. Al Kooper leading the group with a Blues/R&b/jazz vibe throughout

The only decent album they ever made before they sold out big time, just like Chicago and umpteen other bands who decided they would rather make money than make decent music.

Good album, but in all honesty, probably the worst album cover of all time

BS&T's debut album, with Al Kooper steering the boat, doesn't really resemble the better-known David Clayton Thomas incarnation, but this is perhaps their strongest effort overall. This record has more of a blues- than a jazz-infusion, but there's some of both. Filled with great songs like "Just One Smile," "My Days Are Numbered," and "I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know." Unique offering. Pity it didn't work out with Kooper, but, if it did, we never would have gotten "Spinning Wheel" and "You've Made Me So Very Happy."
