Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 15% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 77.0/100, a mean average of 77.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.9/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 16.6.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:
Virtually every musical or cultural innovation that Madonna gets unearned credit for is something that Donna Summer was ALREADY doing several years earlier. Summer was famously the 'Queen of Disco', but she was so much more as well. It's hard to think of a single Western music genre that LaDonna Gaines (1948 – 2012) didn't experiment with at one time or another. She was restlessly creative, always wanting to expand her sound and try new things while, of course, making sure it had a good beat and you could dance to it.
Bug voice and enough quality material to make her worth a listen.
One of the most underrated artists of all time. Because of her connection to Disco, Donna was dismissed by many "serious" music fans, but her voice marks her out as one of the greats. Her background in musical theatre meant she often put down her vocals in one take and this almost live feel comes across on many of her classic hits. The notoriously difficult to sing Jimmy Webb classic "Macarthur Park" is but just one example of this. Donna was also a songwriter and wrote or co-wrote much of her material. On her belated entry into the rock'n'roll hall of fame their tribute read "She could sing anything, anywhere, with anyone , at anytime". How right they were. A musical based on her life is in the works. Let's hope this cements her place in musical history.
Fantastic voice here!
The "Queen of Disco" is now no longer with us but she was so much more than a disco artist. She had a truly powerful voice and she could sing!(unlike so many other "Disco Singers"). Her early stuff is a bit dated now but her albums Bad Girls, Live & More and Another Time & Place are still worth listening to.
