Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 67.3/100, a mean average of 65.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 65.4/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 24.5.

I would call myself a John Mayer fan. Some of his songs are a bit too smooth for me, but having learned to play some of them, and hearing his live work, he's mega-talented and his songs actually hide quite a bit of complexity in them. Even his simplest pop songs are very musical and feel genuine. He's a great musician, and that often gets lost in his playboy image and the popularity of hits like Your Body is a Wonderland. For those wondering what the big deal is, give his live album Try! a shot, or for studio work, listen to his 2006 set Continuum. Better yet, try learning Neon on guitar!

Just a playboy
He can play the Guitar. Kudos for jumping genres and holding is own. But his whole career feels like "John Mayer does _______". Insert pop, college, r and b, blues, rock, country. He sounds more like an excellent imitator rather than his own unique thing.
It takes away from his talent. And his ongoing womanizing doesn't help his likeability.
Continuum was excellent and what he did with the John Mayer Trio was real good too.
Everything other album has highlights but isn't consistently good. Just pick what John Mayer you like and roll with the album.
Continuum is great, beyond that, he's a little bland but still good easy listening music.

Yeah Great Artist...not perfect...the reason i'd give him a strong 8 is because of how much i love Continuum 10x more than anything else he made...Room For Square is not bad either though too
Frankly Mr Shankly I'd hope that was your evaluation!
