Man I really dislike a lot of the lyrics on this album, especially Your Body is a wonderland, It's very childish, the guitar playing is mostly on point though

Amazing album. Could have done with a few tracks being cut but there is some really good coffee-shop rock here. The first 5 songs are all essential Mayer

I just don’t dig JM and this album is no exception
In my opinion this is one of the best albums of the new millenium. It launched John Mayer into superstardom. He's a better guitar player than given credit for and these songs are really catchy. They still hold up 10 years later.
Wow, I'm the first comment on the biggest seller of 2001 (that's a guess)? I guess it's not cool to be a John Mayer fan. If you love Brian Wilson's lyrics this is the closest you'll get to his classic period. These are the poems of a picked on kid who locked himself in a room and became a guitar virtuoso. There's anger in the lyrics about his old school, he's a retard around girls, he's clumsy and socially inept. Like every other high school kid except he had the guts to put it on wax (is that term used anymore?) The axe work is amazing. Too bad he went poking around with Jen and became cool (rhymes with tool). And what's with his tatoo anyway? He looks like a moron with that thing.
