Band of Horses rose from the ashes of the Seattle slow-core band Carissa's Wierd. After that group split in 2004, singer-songwriter Ben Bridwell formed the band, initially calling it "Horses."
The band signed to Sub Pop and released Everything All the Time in 2006. The track "The Funeral" became a massive cultural touchstone, appearing in countless TV shows, movies, and skate videos. This song defined their sound: soaring, reverb-heavy vocals mixed with melancholic indie rock.

Have to agree totally with jqmusiclove, this band are fabulous. Saw them live a couple of years agio and it was one of the best gigs of all time. The Acoustic at the Ryman album is one of the best live albums of the last decade. Love 'em and you should too.

One of the best bands of recent times. I really don't understand why Band Of Horses aren't more popular. All their songs are so well written and are very beautiful. Their second album, Cease To Begin is a 10-song masterpiece with standout tracks like Ode To LRC, Islands On The Coast, Cigarettes, Wedding Bands and Is There A Ghost.
