Least favourite album by this fabulous band but that's not to say that it's not a decent album, it is. It just does grab me as much as their later offerings

Beautiful album! Saw them live recently, just as good or better in person! The dude can sing!
I find this album to be severely underrated. Sure, The Funeral is a great track, but it's not the only one. Every song on this album is astonishingly beautiful. The First Song might be one of my favorite songs ever recorded. I Go to the Barn... is also phenomenal. Easily a 9.5/10 for me.

Pretty decent album overall. the funeral is just an amazing song
Is this really the same guy who penned together with 'S' the clever Songs About Leaving?
Funeral is easily the best track, but that doesn't mean the rest is bad. (It would be the best track on most albums!) Definitely worth a listen.
In addition to "The Funeral", the last 3 tracks are also phenomenal with "Monsters" being one of my favorite songs EVER! With those 4 amazing tracks, the rest of the songs could've been a collection of fart noises and I still would have loved this album. Luckily for the listener the other tracks are quite good, making this a great album from beginning to end.

Long before they settled on a sound this band was unsure of itself and so.... they had an edge. This is a fine, fine album. Sure, Funeral is the finest moment but don't miss out on the pure fun of Weed Party or the epic love song I go to the Barn.
