Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. Gee... Ben Harper gets no love on BEA. I don't get it. He's original, thoughtful, can balance catchy hooks and melodies with depth and emotion. I don't understand why he's hardly even noticed. Not a commercial titan, but not a critical darling either I guess.
