"Chocolate City is another George Clinton masterpiece funky and soulful. Most of the tracks are uptempo except for the soulful love song I Misjudged You,which along with Together and Big Footin' are the best tracks."  Reply

"Ray and that great Hammond B3 organ along side the Count Basie Orchrestra deliver a fantastic swinging performance! "I'm Gonna Move to the Outskirts of Town" is one of my favorite Ray Charles tunes (It can be heard closing out an episode of The Sopranos). Other stand outs: One Mint Julip I've Got..."  [+]  Reply

"A great neo-prog album that gets ambitious, but stays mostly well mannered. There is the full side single cut, which holds together well and a nice collection of other great Spock-ish stuff to keep it company."  Reply

"This is a brilliant record - an AOTY contender for me, and I say this with some confidence as a long-term fan of the band - this is their best release (IMO) in a career going back to the mid-1990s. A shot in the arm to the corpse of post-rock!"  Reply

"Well, there might be people who don't like the sound of Mogwai that much. But someone who likes them will love this album because they have summarized everything from their career. It's just great! Whether it's the quiet/loud shema or the epic melodies. They leave nothing out. And if that's what ..."  [+]  Reply

"When your band is the offspring of Gang of Four and XTC people are going to expect that artistically you can bring the pain so to speak. Without a doubt, Shriekback could bring it. One could argue that Shriekback didn't have the consistency over its lifespan of its parent bands, but for at least ..."  [+]  Reply

"Truth be told I’ve always loved The Fall and in particular main man Mark E Smith who’s reputation as a surly nonconformist is no contrived act 1988’s ‘The Frenz Experiment’ is a seemingly forgotten Fall album but it did complete the best one/two punch of their career coming on the back of the pre..."  [+]  Reply
