One of the main indie-dance crossover bands from the late 80's and early 90's UK (along with Primal Scream, Pop Will Eat Itself, Jesus Jones, and the Shamen). Constantly evolving their musical sound possibly made it difficult for fans to follow their journey. Released half a dozen well regarded singles over the second half of the 80's, each an independent chart success, each a different sound to the last, from Buzzcocks-style pop-punk to something more like The Who by the time of the first studio LP in 1988. In the next year they developed an even harder coruscating sound like Queens of the Stone Age, before discovering ecstasy, and suddenly completely changing to an indie-dance crossover sound and having a handful of hits.
