Carole King (born Klein) was an able pianist from the age of four and by her late teens had developed into a competent songwriter with her boyfriend (later to be husband) Gerry Goffin supplying lyrics. The duo were recruited by Don Kirshner and joined his legendary song writing team, working out of the Brill Building in New York.
As the 60’s became the 70’s Carole King was established as one of the premier songwriters of the decade. Her list of credits is simply incredible and includes Take Good Care of My Baby, Up on the Roof, the Locomotion to name but a few She had delivered a string of dozens of hits for a vast cross section of artists but with the exception of 1962’s sublime It Might As Well Rain Until September success as a performer had proved to be elusive. Her partnership and marriage with Goffin dissolved in the late 60’s
As a melodic songwriter she ranks as one of the greatest of the 20th Century and her catalogue of great songs covers a huge variety of styles and influences. Simply she is one of the best

A songwriter for the generations creates one brilliant album of her performing her own songs. Brilliance. Shame she couldn`t repeat Tapestry.
