Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 81.2/100, a mean average of 80.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 81.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.9.

I only really have one complaint about this album, I think the vocals are mixed very strangely. They feel claustrophobic, like she’s in a very small closet. Other than that, I like every aspect of this album; the instrumentation, the writing, the performances. All these aspects work with each other in a fantastic way.

I also just wanted to let Brad1770 know that when you look up easy listening smooth FM friendly rock music, this is not the first album cover to come up. As of now, it's actually Texas Flood by Stevie Ray Vaughan. Which I feel is a bit inaccurate.

A classic. I didn't purchase this album for many years, because I had her greatest hits album. This is way better. She has a down to earth voice and is a very good piano player.

Look up easy listening smooth FM friendly rock music in the dictionary and there’s probably a picture of this album

It also happens to be one of the biggest selling albums in the history of music which says plenty about the rank and files taste

May as well be listed as a Greatest Hits Album because let’s be honest Carol King never came close to replicating this creative peak

I've had this album for many years, and never get tired of listening to it. Whether as a vocalist, a musician, or a songwriter, Carole sparkles. A true masterpiece, this album would work well in anyone's collection.

What a great album - probably knew most of the songs from other artists. But wow to King in writing and delivering these. Advised Dec 17 by a mate to get this album and a bit surprised - finally got in in June 18 and it is an all time classic with all tunes great with the exception of the title track itself which I feel is a bit of a let down

Not too many albums about which I can say, "This is better than Licensed to Ill." (It was the last thing I'd listened to.) But this is one of them.
