Top 100 Music Albums of 1973

1973 was the year I bought my first record, but as you can imagine the vast majority of the albums in this chart were heard at a later date.
In those days if I was careful my pocket money would run to buying me an average of one album a month, on top of that I'd have maybe 3 mates who would buy at about the same rate, but even between 4 of us I must have only heard 30 to 40 albums that year, maybe less as we often bought the same albums. There was no other way of hearing full albums in that pre-internet time. Most people relied on reviews in music papers to help them to decide what to buy, but since I never could bear the hip bitchiness of music journalism I chose not to use that route and almost everything I bought was based on personal recommendations or singles or luck, sometimes that can backfire as when I bought Paul McCartney's Red Rose Speedway that year, still thinking anything connected to The Beatles must be great. It doesn't make my 73 top 100. Enough said. We are so lucky being able to check albums out on the internet now before buying.
I'm not nostalgic for the old days, at least not as far as access to music goes.
