It was many years before I realised the true significance of this album. At times sad, at times uplifting, it is truly an amazing record of the love all of the band members held for Syd. I was fortunate to see Pink Floyd in the grounds of a Chateau in France many years ago and they opened with Sine on You Crazy Diamond. I shall never forget how mind blowing that concert was and whenever I listen to this album I am whisked right back to that balmy French summers evening to a listening experience which was truly unforgettable. Excellent work from the Tangerine Dream heyday. Chris Franke's driving Moog Modular bass rhythms are an underlying feature throughout. Analogue drums also feature heavily, something not heard on Phaedra or Rubycon. The simple yet haunting piano introduction on side 2 is embellished with an eerie Mellotron flute ahead of another Franke sequence gradually rising from the ether. Side 2 holds the candle for me. I remember having this on vinyl for Christmas back in the eighties. I still enjoy listening to it now as much as I did back then, great guitar work from Steve Hillage throughout the album. The track 'Fish' tips a hat to what Gong produced in their album 'Shamal'. The Gong Shamal album line up are all in place on this album. [First added to this chart: 03/19/2022]

I have all of Budgie's early works on vinyl and all the albums are excellent, this one though is top of the tree. Budgie had a natural ability to move from Black Sabbathesque riffery into mello beautiful balladry. The first two tracks on this album are a prime example. [First added to this chart: 09/04/2021]

I have been lucky enough to see Nils Lofgren twice, one time back in the eighties, again about 8 years ago. Nils is a very underrated musician, he is a seriously good guitarist having been a stable in Springsteen's E Street band for many years. He is also a good pianist (contributing on Neil Young's After the Goldrush) and at one concert I'm sure I saw him switch places with the drummer for a song. All of the songs on this album bring back happy memories of those concerts, there are no weak tracks, an underrated album as well as artist. [First added to this chart: 08/30/2020]

I've been after a Jeff Beck album on vinyl for a while and was so pleased to pick up this orange vinyl re-issue. The album is absolutely superb, it is cool, exciting, complex, it touches on several musical genres, jazz, blues, rock all cross paths. Really pleased with this purchase. This is a really excellent album from the very accomplished American metal shredder. Back in its heyday it was classed as metal, in this day and age probably hard rock. I thought Cat Scratch fever was the best album until I picked up a mint vinyl copy of this in a local second hand joint a few hours ago. [First added to this chart: 12/22/2023]

The classic Rush sound can be heard developing on this album, 'Lakeside Park' could happily have sat on 2121 or Farewell to Kings and is actually my favourite track. 'The Necromancer' is my other top track, very progressive in its build up and certainly feels like a journey to some other realm, with some great lead guitar soloing over the driving rhythm section. You know how good an album is when you come back to leave a further comment after the original. Keep your eyes open vinyl lovers, this album along with Pawn Hearts, H to He is the Only One and The Least We Can Do Is Wave to Each Other are all about to get re-issued on vinyl! I have listed the rating further to my original rating because I have realised there is so much to hear on this album. Sleepwalkers is an awesome prog offering!
