I love Roll the Bones. Fuck you people. Still one of the best bands ever

I was never a fan of Rush even though (or perhaps because) I live in Ontario. They get a lot of airplay, here, and you can feel backlashy against this band, that voice. But they really have done their own thing. Quality music makers. Great songs. After the 400th listen to Tom Sawyer I'm used to the vocals.

These guys were my teenage band of choice, amongst some other very notable Gods of Rock. I lost touch after Grace Under Pressure as they moved into Synth heavy territory. For those who were around in the early 80's, Synthesisers were at the forefront of Popular music. Bands like Depeche Mode, Heaven 17 & The Human League were riding high and Geddy started to explore the synth world as he perfected his keyboard skills. Chapeau to that but many rock fans, myself included hated to see one of our favourite bands move away from Guitar driven music and into a genre that barely registered as serious music. I put it down to an ageing fanbase and a genuine desire by Rush to progress, which after all is the genre they belonged to. We mustn't forget that new musical technologies were being developed throughout the latter half of the 20th Century and bands of all types played around with new instruments, new sounds and new ideas. twas ever thus. I suspect the synth era allowed new people to discover them and join their fandom, which is no bad thing. At least they didn't go totally Pop, like Genesis, which I don't criticise per se but it did prevent that band returning to their earlier style. So now, some 30 years after my last Rush purchase I have been reacquainting myself with the band of my youth and discovering just how exceptional they are, once again.

My favorite rock band for almost four decades now. Nowhere else will you find unsurpassed musicians at every position, epic and challenging compositions, and such thoughtful lyrics. These guys are, and probably will be, completely untouched as a complete outfit.

Didn't get into them until my friends turned me on to them (and some newer music) lately ^_^ I don't really like the singer's voice but the drummer is fun.

Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart surely are highly skilled and intelligent musicians, although I'm not a big fan of Geddy's voice. My favorite thing about Rush is probably the bass lines and guitar riffs.

Favorite album: Moving Pictures
Favorite song: La Villa Strangiato
