Top 11 Music Albums of 2015 by mrmcrook

Not a bad year. Nothing massively outstanding but all on this list have no real definitive placing. Very evenly liked

Slow melodic thumping metal groove. But then, what would you expect from a band full of bass's. Considering they're a band with a cult following, this is an album full of tracks way better than anticipated [First added to this chart: 10/09/2020]

I've been a Maiden fan since day one. Their hay day for me was the 80's material. I wouldn't call this a return to prime form but it's a definite improvement on the few albums prior. With this they majorly ventured into the prog metal world. The highlight by far is the 18 minute closer with it's added strings and piano for full grandiose effect. No disrespect to Bruce but his vocals just aren't doing the justice they once did. [First added to this chart: 10/09/2020]

Good psych rock. They sound very classic rock as you can hear the influence of 70's rock (early Uriah Heep seems the most comparable) but also with that added modern feel. No highlight tracks, but does chug along nicely on an even keel. That they come from Iceland adds an extra edge of cool [First added to this chart: 10/09/2020]

Good album with a mix of swampy, bluegrass, jugband, 12 bar rhythm & blues & boogie. This is what an everyday man's ZZ Top would sound like in a parallel universe [First added to this chart: 10/09/2020]

This was the first Florence I got. Liked it so it made me explore some of her others. Was quite disappointed with them. It's because of them that makes me down play and forget how decent this is. Until I pull it out for a listen. In my opinion this is her best by a long shot. [First added to this chart: 09/04/2021]

An album straddling harder rock and heavy prog. First few songs start with a hiss and a roar but then the rest seem to ease on intensity with some tracks even verging on balladry. Overall it sounds like a lighter Opeth crossed with Anathema. [First added to this chart: 04/22/2021]

Melodic death metal. First album I've gotten from them so I can't compare to their other work. As a whole in the world of metal & heavier music though, this comes across as nothing special. There's a couple of good tracks but overall it's average at best. I had a note that it was getting better with each listen. I retract that; I think my minds made up. It is what it is.
