Top 21 Music Albums of 1990
by mrmcrook

What a lot of compilations I seem to have that were put out this year. All compilations, greatest hits, anthology's etc listed after studio albums. For a year list, it's only fair.

90.22* Took a long time for this album to gel with me. Listened to it a bit when I first got it, didn't overly hit a cord with me, so it sat gathering dust. Ten years later, pulled it out. Now it's one of my all time favorite. Something must've clicked. 'Three Days' being the highlight but all songs following it are just serene joy. My, how one's tastes can obviously change. A masterpiece of the Alternative genre. 05/25 [First added to this chart: 04/15/2022]

89.44 Megadeth's magnum opus. Easily the best album they've put out. One thing I'm adverse to with Megadeth is Dave Mustaine's voice. I honestly don't think he can sing for shit. But with this album it all comes together and he pulls it off well. 01/24 [First added to this chart: 04/15/2022]

86.81 A slightly darker heavier tone than the albums before it. One of the better albums from them. There was a long gap between losing my vinyl and replacing it with the CD. Way better than I remembered it to be. Love it. Fucking love it. 05/24 [First added to this chart: 04/15/2022]

84.44 I get such joy out of this. If you like the Dead Kennedy's and Ministry, there's no way you wont love this. Excellent combination with most songs being superb. [First added to this chart: 04/15/2022]

83.18 This is one of those sleeper albums. Doesn't instantly whack you round the head with it's brilliance, more so just simmers away within. Without a doubt Glenn Danzig sounds like Jim Morrison. Hence this album sounds like what would come if Jim Morrison fronted a band that dabbled in a mixture of classic metal, goth metal & bluesy metal. Overall top notch right through. 77.00 Decent metal. Good mix and blend of thrash and classic. Pity the production wasn't a tad better as overall it gives some of the albums put out by the Big 4 a run for their money 03/24 [First added to this chart: 12/28/2023]

77.00 This highlights what an amazing voice she has. Good mix of tempo on the different tracks. Good variety as well. Love the string & orchestral arrangements. Better songs in the front half. Tails off near the back. 11/22 [First added to this chart: 04/15/2022]

Always fascinating with albums like this. Ones that have a few commercial singles that are instantly recognizable. It's with albums like this where it's the songs that you don't know that give it the credibility of whether or not it's a decent album. Always a joy when the unknown tracks turn out to be the better ones. Bit sad when the singles are really the only alright songs on it.  This is pretty steady right through. 73.75 Hardcore punk's always hit or miss. This does straddle the midway. Nothing spectacular but I have heard much worse. They needed a couple more tracks like 'Moonshine Song' scattered throughout to break up constant same tempo. 11/22 [First added to this chart: 04/15/2022]

72.91 Not really a good album. First 4 songs are decent, title track being my favorite on this. It seemed like the ideas and song writing creativity had dried up. This was the beginning of the end. Still a reliable rhythm section, but the lyrics are dismal and the vocals are horrendous. [First added to this chart: 04/15/2022]
