Try to top the 2020 albums tally (unlikely) - :(
Have a full chart (100 entries/albums listened) by the end of April - :(
Keep a list of concerts/DJ sets/events I've been to - :)
Finish the 80s chart - :)
Finish the RYM singles project and (possibly) the top concerts of 2022 rundown - :(
Refine the 00s and 90s charts, as well as the 2022 one - :)
Make a more serious 2020s chart with at least 90 entries (possibly full 100, depending on the quality of this year's music) - :)

Missed them live in September... Such a shame. This is an incredible drone (but not only drone) odyssey. Chaotic and noisy like the best of 'em, but manages to balance it with various other not-so-loud sections. Robin Wattie's vocals fit like a glove - both during the loud and the more atmospheric parts. And those quieter, more somber sections sound immaculate on a good pair of headphones. The guitars are almost reminiscent of some moody Americana on the closer. What's not to like about this band? Highlight is A Parable of the Trusting, an insanely heavy and minimalistic track.

The closing track reminds me of some Fennesz work. And that's a high praise, since Fennesz is one of my favourite ambient musicians. The whole thing is a peak Hecker experience.

Another abrasive and fun album from KEN Mode, this time perhaps slightly less chaotic and more post-hardcore/groovy. Great sax parts. He Was a Good Man, He Was a Taxpayer is not only a great song name, it's also easily one of the coolest songs of the year.
