Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

More Prince please

This dude/dudette is a hero, I don't think a single BEAer could be in any greater mourning than L&P at this time. My deepest sympathies, I think only they could pick the appropiate Prince song as a farewell (and as evident here, there is a bounty to choose from).

And I thought the guy with more than ten Prince albums on his chart was insane.
By the way, this chart rules for having Butthole Surfers on it, and not just that, their two best albums too! Some other good stuff also here, including all of Prince's good albums of course.

The gollux comment gets my vote for worst comment ever made on this board. When this album came out I covered the bottom half of the cd case with a piece of paper not because I don't like the human body but because i don't like Prince's.
