Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 69.7/100, a mean average of 69.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 69.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 23.5.

Look, maybe it's the last great album she makes, but damn, Madonna had it for a really long time. And she figured it out by going back to what always worked for her: Making the most danceable tunes that are of their era, yet eternally catchy.

One thing about Madonna is that, within the confines of the pop aesthetic, she doesn't stand still for long. On Confessions... she lets loose with the full-on dance grooves - a non-stop mix of beefed up, pounding tracks. And it really works! Those wishing for a harking back to Ray Of Light days would do well to simply go and listen to that record again and let the Queen Of Pop get on with doing what she does best - reinvention. Excellent use of fuzzy synths throughout and an exceptional production team make for a great album (not to mention Madonna's knack for wonderful cover art). Recommended.

Ultimately a big regression from 2003's uncompromising "American Life", "Confessions" has very good singles but the rest of it is forgettable. Madonna playing it safe may have become a commercial success in this instance, but this was the beginning of the end for her artistry and of her career at large; to this day she still hasn't taken any risks with her work.

I hate to be the devil's advocate here, but this falls flat on its face in comparison to 2003's very underrated "american life" which actually bothered to take a risk or two unlike the slick, sanitized dance-pop record "confessions on a dancefloor". don't get me wrong, the singles are great, catchy and fun, but other than those there's really not much here to recommend at all. sure it brought her commercial success after the relative commercial flop of "american life", but to this day post 2003 she never took artistic risks again and her music has suffered for it. it's a real shame. so overall a decent album, but it's just not that rewarding and honestly sounds more dated than "ray of light", "music" and "american life"

Wow. Just Wow. This was a creative and captivating pop record. This is on the same league hell maybe a little more than George Michael's Patience. And I love that record as well.

One of Madonna's better albums, this is a dance record from start to finish with no gaps. This so far is her last really good album, although Rebel Heart isn't bad and was an improvement on MDNA & Hard Candy . What next for the "Queen of Pop" as she approaches 60.

Very good dance/disco/electronic album. Best 10 songs average is 87,8/100 and the album can get very good 90/100. Best song is "Hung up" 95/100, followed by "Sorry" and "Jump" both 90/100. All other songs good 80-85/100. Favourite!
