Pink Floyd & The Dark side of the Moon
by
Robert Anton Wilson
This list starts with a listing of the best versions of the Dark Side of the Moon available out there and then continues with a series of albums all related to Pink Floyd but usually not part of the Pink Floyd catalogue such as tribute albums.
I lost count, here is another source for alternative Dark Side of the Moons ... http://www.amiright.com/album-covers/pink-floyd-dark-side-of-the-moon-parodies/
And closes off with the member's solo albums.

Probably the most worthy reprise. It tries to stick as closely to the original but all sounds on this album are produced by the human voice with no special effects. It works very well.

Dream Theater has many of those official bootleg tribute albums. They love to play music and the love the classics as fans.

There are so many of those tributes out there. The main issue I have with this is that, while it works amazingly well for individual songs, eventually the technique to translate rock sounds and rhythms to a string quartet remain the same across the songs and albums. It gets to be highly repetitive. But if you are interested in hearing a rereading and replaying of your favorite artist's best work, it is worth the listen. Whoever your favorite artist is, odds are they have been covered by the String Quartet (also sometimes called the Vitamin String Quartet because they are published on Vitamin records).

This one I have high hopes for and these hopes have been half fulfilled. This is really a who's who of prog rock pulled in to give this album a face lift. The problem, Billy Sherwood, he is the instigator of this project and of many of the same ilk and while I cannot talk about his value as a gatherer and an ideas man, boy those he stink as a singer and player. Basically all the songs are good and work well unless Billy Sherwood is actually credited to them. He is also notable for having a member of Yes when they recorded their worst record ever -and by far- Open Your Eyes (1997).

This actually has not much to do with Pink Floyd of the Dark Side of the Moon. For whatever reason Klaus & Pete decided to do this series of 11 albums by parodying the titles of Pink Floyd albums and songs. I haven't heard it all, but from what I've heard, only the titles resemble, not the music.

Don't forget the "wish you were here trance remixes" LP, and all the other trance remix LP's which I haven't heard yet, and what about "Dark side of the moon" by Medicine Head - which if it had been a huge hit would have meant Floyds Dark side being called something else entirely. Great chart.

Wow, very good Chart.
Very good Idea!
I thought I were the first one, who had this idea, because since some weeks I´m thinking of a similar Chart with King Crimson solo- and sideprojects.
So I´m happy that I stumbled over your chart right now.
I pretty much agree with your notes but I support the suggestion of sageamagoo: Please rank the albums from the best to the worst.

The Flaming Lips and Dream Theater's covers are both amazing, and I'm happy to see them on the chart.
I'm disappointed, however, that the rest of the albums are unranked. I was hoping to see your favourites at the top, but from the descriptions, that's definitely not what you did. It makes the chart a bit less interesting, but I have to give you kudos for compiling so many obscure albums together.
