Pink Floyd & The Dark side of the Moon
by Robert Anton Wilson

This list starts with a listing of the best versions of the Dark Side of the Moon available out there and then continues with a series of albums all related to Pink Floyd but usually not part of the Pink Floyd catalogue such as tribute albums.

I lost count, here is another source for alternative Dark Side of the Moons ... http://www.amiright.com/album-covers/pink-floyd-dark-side-of-the-moon-parodies/

And closes off with the member's solo albums.

Opel
Compilation
A compilation album but which features mostly alternate takes. If you like Syd and like the 2 "official" albums you will not be deceived with this one since in the end the true duplication of songs is kept to a minimum, most of it will be new stuff. Includes the best version of his song "Rats". Rats, rats lay down flat. We don't need you we act like that. If you think you're out of luck then we know about that. Rats, rats, lay down flat. Yup. For completists only. Ron Geesin was an experimental musician and he has been the inspiration for what became Atom Heart Mother. This album is more experimentation than music, I mean farts and burps are farts and burps even when on a Roger waters album. Does include the very excellent "Sea, Shell and Stone" and "Give Birth to a Smile" which are much better than the rest of the album and are must-haves in themselves though. Then again what do sea, shell and stones have to do with sounds from the body? [First added to this chart: 11/19/2012]

I looooooooooooooove this album. This was the project that Roger presented to the other Floyds along with The Wall and we know what they chose. I am glad they made that choice for 2 reasons, (1) The Wall was really an obvious winner & (2) the Pros & Cons works better as a Roger album then it likely ever would have as a PF album. I am deeply convinced it would have tanked as a PF album only for hype and marketing reason. Doing this very personal project alone allowed Roger to really let loose and do it the way he wanted, only master on board. And while loosing a guitarist of the caliber of David Gilmour is a big loss to recover from, going with Eric Clapton was a stroke of genius. Trivia: in these days when everything is easily obtainable there is still a rare track for me, the first track done by Roger and EC (attributed to Eric) for the movie "The Hit", instrumental, very dreamy, very good. His less interesting album. Being Roger Waters this does not mean it is not interesting. An attempt to be more mainstream, more pleasant. This is not the reason people listen to Floyd music. The concept is interesting, the songs good. There aren't any particularly low points it is just that the high points are not that high. [First added to this chart: 11/19/2012]

Roger attemps to redo a "The Wall" with a new concept. Excellent album with tons of amazing compositions. But I have a beef with this album, a big beef, there is too much filler noise between he songs, chopping woods, crickets, radio broadcasts. I mean this is cool and could create the atmosphere and set the song right, but when it is so long that you have time to tell yourself "Oh, why is there no music playing I will go put an album on ...", this is too long. And them there are 3 end songs in a row. All is good here, a masterpiece, but the editing went overboard. I know some people dislike "The Wall" because of that, making a movie of this album may help me get over it Roger. [First added to this chart: 11/19/2012]

Compilation with an emphasis on his "hope" songs. I guess I prefer his "despair" songs. [First added to this chart: 11/19/2012]

Don't forget the "wish you were here trance remixes" LP, and all the other trance remix LP's which I haven't heard yet, and what about "Dark side of the moon" by Medicine Head - which if it had been a huge hit would have meant Floyds Dark side being called something else entirely. Great chart.

Wow, very good Chart.
Very good Idea!
I thought I were the first one, who had this idea, because since some weeks I´m thinking of a similar Chart with King Crimson solo- and sideprojects.
So I´m happy that I stumbled over your chart right now.
I pretty much agree with your notes but I support the suggestion of sageamagoo: Please rank the albums from the best to the worst.

The Flaming Lips and Dream Theater's covers are both amazing, and I'm happy to see them on the chart.

I'm disappointed, however, that the rest of the albums are unranked. I was hoping to see your favourites at the top, but from the descriptions, that's definitely not what you did. It makes the chart a bit less interesting, but I have to give you kudos for compiling so many obscure albums together.
